For the third day in a row, the dysfunctional circulation department at The Record of Woodland Park has reared its ugly head.
Friday's paper was missing the Better Living entertainment tabloid. Despite the night-long downpour, Saturday's paper was wet, because it had been delivered in a single, open plastic bag. I haven't received Sunday's paper yet. I called circulation and a message said delivery will be late, because of an "unforeseen problem."
It was a power outage at the Rockaway facility.
ReplyDeleteI made a comment on the “problem with delivery” portion of your blog that the Rockaway facility had los power. That is why the paper was late and/or not delivered.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. 10:01 p.m. Sunday and there's no mention on the Record web site that the Jets beat the Colts, greatly enhancing their playoff chances. The game was over by 7:15. Also, you give a rare kudo to Doblin for writing about mass transit for a change, but the way I see it, his train got delayed, so he wrote a column about it. The epitome of laziness.

ReplyDeleteOne of my "Eye on The Record" readers received six 34-page Kohl inserts with the Sunday paper, which I think was purchased at a newsstand. I didn't get any ad inserts with my home-delivered copy. Look, whether it's a power outage or no outage, The Record has long had one of the lamest circulation departments. If you can't print and deliver the paper on time, you are trashing the work done by all the other departments that knocked themselves out to meet deadline. But this is not new. The Record often couldn't print late news or sports because of the early deadlines imposed to accommodate the press people and the broken delivery system.
